The million copy Sunday Times bestseller returns with a taut, compelling psychological thriller that will have you glued to the edge of your seat.

About the book:

Sometimes your first love won’t let you go…

Lou Wandsworth is used to being headline news as, aged fourteen, she ran away to France with her 31-year-old teacher, Mike Hughes.

Now 32, Lou’s life is in tatters – and she resolves to return home to confront Mike for the damage he has caused. But she soon finds that Mike is unchanged, and is focussing his attention on 13-year-old Chloe Meadows.

Determined to make sure that history doesn’t repeat itself, Lou decides to take matters into her own hands. But Mike is a predator of the worst kind, and as she tries to bring him to justice, it’s clear that Lou could once again become his prey…

About the author:

C.L. Taylor lives in Bristol with her partner and son. She started writing fiction in 2005 and her short stories have won several awards and have been published by a variety of literary and women’s magazines.

In 2014, The Bookseller named C.L. Taylor as one of the year’s Bestselling Adult Fiction Debut Authors for The Accident. The Lie and The Missing were Sunday Times top 10 bestsellers in paperback, and both books hit the #1 spot on the Kindle bestseller list. She has sold 1 million books to date.

A little peak inside:
The house is much, much bigger than Wendy was expecting. From the address she’d imagined a little cottage crammed in the centre of a terrace with a mess of roses growing up the outside and a roof in need of attention. She didn’t imagine an enormous detached house with a sprawling driveway and its own private lane. The house is so isolated she drove past it several times before she finally spotted the track, almost hidden between overgrown apple trees and bramble bushes.

It’s late afternoon and, with the sun still high in the sky, Wendy tucks the car well into the trees to avoid being seen. Not that it would matter if Lou does see her. She’s carrying an armful of flowers and wearing an expression of concern. If Lou asks why she’s there she’ll say she was in the area and thought she’d drop a small gift by to cheer up the ailing patient. It’s a little unusual, admittedly – a home visit from a new work acquaintance – and Lou might raise an eyebrow, but it’s certainly nothing Wendy could be locked up for.

That house though. Wendy sighs deeply. It’s enormous. It must have at least five bedrooms and four receptions. If not more. So much space – inside and out – and no other houses for miles.

I don't know about you, but I can't wait to read The Fear! The first book I read from C.L. Taylor was The Escape... and I absolutely loved it (check out my review here). I can't wait to delve into the pages full of tension and suspense as we follow another psychological thriller from an incredibly talented writer.
